A surprise bag inspection at a school in Nashik has raised concerns after teachers discovered knives, condoms, playing cards and bicycle chains in students’ bags. The incident reportedly occurred at a private school in Ghoti, Nashik. A video of the confiscated items caught the attention of social media users. The surprise search was allegedly carried out by the teachers after some students were being disciplined for unusual hairstyles.
Journalist Raj Maji shared the video on X (formerly Twitter), showing the confiscated items laid out on a table. Among the objects were brass knuckles, a knife, a bicycle chain and a stack of Pokemon cards, among others.
“A shocking incident has come to light in Nashik, Maharashtra. In a private school in Ghoti, Igatpuri taluka, teachers found alarming items in students’ bags, including knives, playing cards, condoms, and bicycle chains,” Raj wrote.
“The teachers had decided to inspect the bags after some students were disciplined for unusual hairstyles. The inspection revealed the disturbing contents, sparking concern among parents and teachers. While the teachers’ vigilance brought the issue to light, the presence of such items in students’ bags raises serious concerns about their safety and well-being,” he added.

According to Lokmat Times, the items were found in the bags of Class 8 and 9 students. The report further mentioned that narcotic substances were also confiscated from the students.
Some teachers suspected that a few students might have been under the influence of drugs. They believe that some of the teenagers may have consumed narcotics while on the school premises. The incident has been reported to the police and an investigation is currently underway, according to the outlet.
This isn’t the first time such an incident has occurred. Back in 2022, a surprise check aimed at preventing students from bringing mobile phones into classrooms shocked the authorities at a school in Bengaluru. In addition to phones, items like condoms, oral contraceptives, lighters, cigarettes and whiteners were discovered in the bags of students from Classes 8, 9 and 10.
The surprise checks were carried out in several schools across the city. These checks started after complaints from several people about students carrying mobile phones to class. The bag inspections were conducted in nearly 80 percent of the schools in the area.
