People on the internet are enamoured by an Indian man’s affection for his brother, who has cerebral palsy. In celebration of Thaipusam, Suresh Vanaz, 46, who stays in Singapore every year, takes his brother, Gunaseelan, 41, to Malaysia’s Batu Caves and carries him up the stairs. He also carries his brother to include him in the festivities rather than donning the customary canopy kavadi.
As per reports, Suresh Vanaz and his brother had originally planned to visit Batu Caves this year, but logistical difficulties forced them to alter their plans.
Suresh Vanaz recently told the New Straits Times that as the family’s sole breadwinner, it is his job to care for his brother. He also talked about how his brother enjoys travelling and how he hopes to show him the world.
“It has been 20 years since I carried Kavadi… now I’m carrying my brother every single day. God’s blessing is always there with us. God bless each and everyone out there. Happy Thaipusam, my old memories,” a post on Instagram reads.
On social media, Suresh Vanaz is being praised as a “hero.” His Instagram is full of videos that often involve his brother, and many are amazed at how he includes him on all occasions.

Thaipusam Festival: What is it?
During the first full moon day of the Thai month, which falls on the Pusam star, Hindu Tamil people celebrate this festival. The celebration honours the triumph of the god Murugan over the demon Surapadman, who is armed with a lance and a heavenly spear.
Despite being celebrated by the Tamil community in India, this event is primarily observed by Indian expatriates in Malaysia and Singapore. Even though it was only observed for a single day, ardent devotees often started fasting weeks beforehand.
