An Indian content creator named Urvashi Agarwal sparked concerns over food safety by highlighting some unhealthy practices of a popular eatery in Rajasthan. She shared a video of a food inspection at a restaurant in Jaipur on Instagram in which officers reportedly discovered multiple food safety violations. The widely circulated video shows the kitchen scenes of a restaurant named ‘Up and Up’ where both meat and vegetarian food were stored together. “Food Safety officers Rajasthan inspected Up & Up, the musical terrace and found major food and safety violations. Watch the reel to see the video. Share this with your friends to raise awareness!” the post read.
The video sparked outrage in the post’s comments section. One of them wrote, “Why can’t we have an open-camera kitchen to see how our food is being prepared?”
Another commended the content creator and said, “Need more influencers like you.”
One user agreed and added, “You inspire me towards a better life.”
Another said, “They should take strict actions against them.”
“Wow! We can’t even imagine what’s going on behind the scenes! They should definitely shut down this kind of restaurant,” wrote one user.
“We know all this is happening around us but seeing it is a completely different thing. This motivates me even more to cook at home every day,” added someone else.
The video reportedly features Rajasthan Administrative Service (RAS) officer Pankaj Ojha who was leading the food inspection at the popular spot. In the video, he could be heard questioning the practices of the restaurant’s kitchen as they uncovered multiple trays of gravy. Emphasising the seriousness of such malpractices, he said, “How many days old is this, stored in the freezer? This is an alarming situation.”
The RAS Officer further pointed out that the restaurant was discrediting religious sentiments by storing raw meat alongside vegetarian food items. “There cannot be a bigger way of playing with the sentiments of the masses,” he said. The RAS officer also inspected a huge slab of paneer that was visibly stored in dirty water. He claimed that the whole product was ‘stinking’.
Towards the end of the video, Urvashi Agarwal discussed how users were being charged high prices for sub-standard food quality and service. She urged users to enlighten their loved ones about such incidents by sharing the video.
