A protester briefly disrupted Apple software head Craig Federighi’s opening remarks at the company’s esteemed Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2025. The incident comes days after a Microsoft event was interrupted in a similar manner.

The man strode onto the stage, unzipped his jacket to expose a keffiyeh (a headgear often used to show support for Palestine) and displayed what looked like an employee badge. The protestor yelled, “I work at Apple,” according to witnesses, but much of what he said was muffled out by the chaos.

Within seconds, security intervened and removed him from the venue. Despite the interruption, Federighi continued speaking and completed the presentation without reacting.

Many X (formerly Twitter) users shared the video, describing it as one of the biggest disruptions ever witnessed at a WWDC event.

One X user wrote, “Hot damn. An actual protest at Apple Park. I can’t make out what they are shouting, but they are being escorted out sharpish.”

“Good for him. While humanity keeps suffering, someone still fights for good in this world of pathetic human beings,” a comment read.

Apple has not yet responded to the situation with a formal statement.

The WWDC 2025 incident is another incident in a string of protests against major tech companies. It highlights growing internal opposition within digital corporations regarding the firms’ relationship with Israel.

Similar instances occurred during Microsoft’s Build conference in May, where a number of protestors disrupted main events to voice their disapproval of the company’s cloud computing contracts with the Israeli government.

An engineer, Joe Lopez, disrupted CEO Satya Nadella’s keynote speech to accuse the tech giant of being close to the Israeli military amid the ongoing conflict in Gaza. Another presentation, by Jay Parikh, the head of Core AI, was interrupted.

In April, Indian-American software engineer Vaniya Agrawal confronted Satya Nadella and Bill Gates at Microsoft’s 50th anniversary celebrations, accusing them of being responsible for the casualties in Gaza.

“Fifty thousand Palestinians in Gaza have been murdered with Microsoft technology. How dare you. Shame on all of you for celebrating on their blood,” Vaniya Agrawal said before being led away by security guards.
