Delhi Metro has always managed to be in the headlines, often going viral for all the wrong reasons. Whether it is the weird antics of a few commuters or a fight over seats, videos grab quick attention on the Internet. Speaking of which, a hilariously epic conversation over various tricks to bag a seat inside a crowded metro train has now piqued the Internet’s attention. The discussion stemmed from a commuter’s generic question on Reddit about ideas to find a seat on a crowded metro, and the rest is history.
While some of the users actually suggested some clever tricks, others were seen joking around with unrealistic funny responses. A user wrote, “Start crying; it works all the time,” while another added, “Throw up. That works too.”
Another hilarious suggestion read, “Put a balloon on your stomach and cover it with your shirt.” One of the individuals jokingly asked commuters to carry their plastic chairs from home.
A user dropped a detailed procedure to successfully earn a metro seat and commented, “When at interchanges, go in the opposite direction of where your destination is; at the next station, deboard and take the right train. A lot of people get off at interchanges, so that’s your golden opportunity!” Many others joined in, asking the user to check on passengers’ behaviour and always stand around the seats instead of the gates or the corners.
Overcrowding has remained a constant issue in the Delhi Metrowith commuters often breaking into fights over sharing seats. In a most recent instance, a man got into an argument with a group of women over a seat inside the metro. Shared widely across social media platforms, the video shows the man sitting on the seat when a female passenger asked him to leave it for her, leading to an argument. At one point, one of the women who was recording the incident said, “You will now go viral after creating a ruckus for a seat. Try to be quiet and show some manners.”
On the other hand, the man responds in a sarcastic manner and remains adamant about his seat, only to suddenly stand up to get off at the next station.
