He described working in cramped “dark stores” — mini warehouses packed with shelves and narrow aisles. Every second counted, and workers were expected to run, not walk, to meet strict timers set for each item picked.
“The warehouses (called dark stores) are super small, packed with racks and items, and we’re expected to run non-stop while picking orders. Like, actually run, not walk fast. You’re dodging other pickers, turning sharp corners, and racing against a timer,” the post also reads.
Accidents were common. The user recalls colliding with a co-worker and breaking his phone, a daily risk in such high-pressure environments. “If it takes even a few seconds extra to find an item, you’re told to log out and go home,” the post reads, highlighting how even minor delays were punished harshly.
