A container carrying 42,000 litres of edible oil overturned on the Bharat Mala road in Sirsa, Haryana, leading to a large crowd from nearby areas flocking to collect the spilled oil.
According to reports, the container, with a capacity of 42,000 litres, lost control and overturned near Sakta Kheda village on Bharat Mala Road. Following the accident, a ghee-like substance began flowing onto the service road from the rainwater drainage pipe.
Believing the substance to be ghee, local residents brought cans, buckets, and other containers from their homes to collect the spilled oil. Soon, the road was covered in edible oil, and the villagers took advantage of the situation to gather as much as they could.
The truck’s owners arrived at the site upon being informed of the incident. Using a crane, they moved the overturned container to the side of the road. Police were also present to help restore traffic flow. It is estimated that thousands of litres of edible oil spilled and flowed onto the road.
The cause of the container overturning still remains unclear. Fortunately, the truck driver narrowly escaped injury. The container sustained significant damage, resulting in the wastage of thousands of litres of edible oil.
