Anne Hathaway recently visited Vikas Khanna’s New York-based restaurant where she received a unique gift from the chef.

Celebrity chef Vikas Khanna recently made a special gesture during his meeting with Hollywood star Anne Hathaway at his New York-based restaurant, Bungalow. Hathaway, who dined at the restaurant, not only met the chef but also received the iconic Mysore Sandalwood Soap as a token of admiration from the chef. Along with the soap, Khanna also gifted her a handcrafted marble box from Agra and his favourite book, Kiss in Kashmir by Monica Saigal.
Vikas Khanna, who took to social media and shared pictures of his unique gift choices for The Devil Wears Prada star, revealed that the gifts have an emotional connection to his late sister Radha. The gesture is also a major step in elevating Karnataka’s cultural heritage brand internationally.
Karnataka’s Industries Minister MB Patil has announced plans to send a unique gift hamper as a gesture of appreciation to honour Vikas Khanna. “What Vikas has done for the state is exceptional. We want to express our gratitude by sending a carefully curated collection of some of the finest products from Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Limited (KSDL), the makers of the famous Mysore sandal soap,” he said, as reported by The Times of India.
Stating that the Mysore Sandal Soap had been a long-standing symbol of Karnataka’s craftsmanship, Patil further added that Khanna has been presenting the soap to various international celebrities at his New York restaurant, showcasing the soap and the cultural heritage of India. He also revealed how the MasterChef India judge had previously explained the soap’s significance during a recent roadshow in New York.
On the other hand, the Mysore Sandal Soap’s social media team also expressed their honour and wrote, “This moment celebrates the timeless legacy of Karnataka’s pride on a global stage. #MysoreSandalSoap continues to connect hearts worldwide with its unmatched purity & fragrance, embodying the rich heritage of #Karnataka.”
