A bizarre incident is going viral on social media, leaving people shocked! A 35-year-old man from Vietnam suffered from severe headaches for five months. To ease the pain, he regularly took painkillers, but his condition worsened and his vision started deteriorating, and he began losing his eyesight. During this time, he also noticed a watery discharge from his nose but had no idea what was causing these symptoms. Terrified, he rushed to the hospital, and what doctors discovered left everyone stunned.

A CT scan revealed that a pair of chopsticks had been lodged in his brain, having entered through his nose! The man, whose identity has not been disclosed, was admitted to the Cuba Friendship Hospital in Dong Hoi, Quang Binh province, Vietnam. He informed the doctors about his persistent headaches, blurry vision, and nasal discharge, but he had no clue about the cause. Upon examining his CT scan, doctors found that his brain was filling with air—a dangerous condition known as tension pneumocephalus. The scan also showed two foreign objects extending from his nose to his brain, which, upon closer inspection, turned out to be broken chopsticks!

At first, the man was baffled as he couldn’t recall how chopsticks could have entered his brain. However, after some thought, he remembered an incident from five months ago, between June and July. He recalled that while drinking alcohol, he had been involved in a fight and sustained injuries. At the time, he went to the hospital, but the doctors didn’t detect anything unusual and sent him home after treatment. Now, he suspects that during the fight, someone may have shoved chopsticks into his nose without his knowledge.

Dr Nguyen Van Man, Head of the Neurosurgery Department at Cuba Friendship Hospital, described the case as extremely rare. After careful evaluation, the doctors decided to perform surgery to remove the chopsticks safely. They conducted an endoscopic procedure through his nose and microsurgery to close a hole in his brain. Following the successful surgery, the man’s condition improved, and he was discharged from the hospital.

Surprisingly, this is not the first such case. A few years ago, a similar incident occurred in Taiwan, where a woman got into a heated argument with her sister. In anger, the sister inserted chopsticks into her nose, which ended up in her brain. This shocking story is now making waves on social media, leaving people astonished at how someone could live for five months with chopsticks in their brain without even realising it!
