A damaged bridge in Jharkhand’s Bokaro has sparked major safety concerns among social media users. To such an extent that the woman’s struggle to cross the completely worn-out iron bridge even garnered attention from the Bokaro DC, who ordered quick maintenance.
An elderly woman struggles to cross a river
The video, which went viral, featured an elderly woman crossing a highly damaged bridge made over a river in the Bokaro district of Jharkhand. Leaving social media users stunned, the woman somehow managed to hold onto the railings of the bridge as she carefully stepped on the remaining iron rods that were holding the rest of the structure together. Afterwards, placing her feet while balancing herself according to the bent railings, she continued to walk towards the camera to cross the river.
The video sparked concerns over the safety and security of the villagers. It even pointed towards the condition of many such mediums of travel in the country that required repair.
While sharing the video featuring the bridge with only ruins of iron, the person behind capturing the video, @dineshwar_15261 tagged the official X handles of Bokaro DC and Hemant Soren and the honourable Chief Minister of Jharkhand and requested them to take the required actions.
“Hon. Deputy Commissioner @BokaroDc Sir, through a video, it is being reported about Champi in Bokaro district that villagers are facing a lot of difficulty in commuting. An elderly grandmother can be seen struggling to cross. Please take cognisance of the matter. @HemantSorenJMM It is requested that necessary steps be taken as soon as possible in view of the situation,” he wrote.

Social media users’ reaction to the old woman’s struggle in crossing the river
One user commented, “Bokaro plant supplies steel sheets to whole India, yet they can’t take some initiative under their CSR to mitigate some problems of people of their place of origin. Along with the govt and district administration, such multi-billion industries should also be held accountable.”
Another mentioned, “@BokaroDc Honorable and respected Deputy Commissioner Sir, please take cognizance of this serious matter and help the villagers. Johar.”
Someone said, “Most Honorable Chief Minister @HemantSorenJMM ji, greetings. The situation in this village is extremely distressing, and how the villagers manage their daily commute is a matter of great concern. I humbly request you to take note of this issue and kindly ensure action is taken at your level.”
