Yet another incident involving Indian Railways has gone viral online, sparking widespread discussion. In a video that surfaced on X (formerly Twitter), a railway employee is seen performing a traditional ritual right at the door of a moving train. The man, identified as Ankit Sharma from Araria, begins the ritual by cleaning the coach steps with water. As the train slowly departs the station, he breaks a coconut at the entrance.
Although he removed the broken pieces of coconut from the entrance, his act still raised safety concerns. The person who posted the clip questioned the safety of such actions, saying, “Ankit Sharma, a resident of Araria, makes a video following the same trend of breaking coconuts. Imagine if a passenger slips, who will be responsible for it? He is also a railway employee who works in the kitchen.”
One Employee Even Performed Aarti Inside A Pantry Car
Another video shared by the same person showed yet another railway employee performing a similar kind of ritual. This man also washed the steps with water and then broke a coconut as the train was slowly leaving the station. He even sprinkled the water from the coconut all over the train coach. In a separate clip, one railway employee was seen performing aarti inside what appeared to be the pantry car. He held a lit diya during his prayers.
In the caption, the user mentioned, “A person named Jeevan Singh Tomar, who is a railway employee, creates such reels on social media in which the train moves slowly and he breaks a coconut by pouring water on the door right there where passengers board. Similarly, videos of him performing aarti inside the train can also be found. Just imagine, if a rushing passenger slips, an accident could happen.”

Internet Is Divided Over The Employees Performing Such Rituals
The videos have sparked a heated discussion online. While some users defended the employees, calling the rituals a sign of faith and devotion, others expressed concerns over passenger safety.
A user said, “I totally agree with his points. 1) wet entrance floor (not good). 2) flammable Diya in train (not good).”
Another added, “It is the fault of the railway administration that despite watching such videos, no legal action has been taken against it, so our railway administration is a failure, playing with people’s lives, not this individual #indianrailway #India.”
“It’s these kinds of idiots who keep polluting society. There’s no discipline in anything. Hey, have you ever gone home, washed your parents’ feet, and cracked a coconut there???” a different individual asked.
Someone else wrote, “Aise ideas aate kaise hain in logon ko! Reels ke liye paise dena bandh kar dena chahiye (How do people come up with such ideas? Giving money for making reels should be banned.)”
“Kabhi travel Kia h ..rail se….jacket dekhio Kitna Pani bhara rhta h..aur basin choked rahte h..Sara Pani Bahar hi girta h…tb koi nhi girta (Have you ever travelled by train? It is always full of water, and the basin gets choked. All the water just spills out, yet no one falls.)” a comment read.
Meanwhile, some people defended the employees, pointing out that they were performing the ritual inside the pantry car, which is not used by passengers. One person penned, “No one goes inside the coach via the pantry car, that’s a pantry car only, they go in and out from there, and moreover, they do this when the train starts from the originating station so that H20 will dry. So PLEASE CHILL, DON’T TAKE TENSION, NO ONE WILL FALL AND DIE.”
Railway Seva, which assists passengers, also responded to the post, requesting the person who shared the video to provide the names of the employees, their department, and other relevant details.
