India batter B. Sai Sudharsan admitted that if Rishabh Pant is unable to feature in the ongoing fourth Test further, it will hurt the team’s chances.
Pant was hit on the foot while trying to reverse sweep a yorker from Chris Woakes as the ball took an inside edge and ricocheted onto his front boot.

Visibly in pain, Pant hobbled and called on the physio and had to be eventually taken off the pitch in a golf cart as his right foot, already swollen up, was bleeding profusely. The batter was later rushed to the hospital for further treatment and scans.
“It will have an impact because he was batting really well today as well. Plus, we will miss a batter if he doesn’t come back again,” Sudharsan said on Wednesday.

“So, it will definitely have consequences. But at the same time, the batters who are batting right now, and there are a few more all-rounders inside. So, we’ll try and give our best and bat long so that we negotiate that loss very well…”
England spinner Liam Dawson feared that Pant could be ruled out of the remainder of the match.
“He’s a very good player, but probably (we) can’t see him taking much more part in this game… It did look like a great injury there, so I hope he’s alright…” Dawson said.
In the previous Test at Lord’s, Pant had suffered a finger injury while keeping in the first innings on the opening day. Dhruv Jurel kept wickets, but Pant later came out to bat in the remaining match.
