Among those who lost their jobs in the US government’s federal restructuring which was spearheaded by Elon Musk-led DOGE is a woman who had once bragged about having work from home facility.
The woman had written on social media about the convenience of working from home.
After President Donald Trump came to power in January 2025, significant efforts have been made by his administration to cut down spending on the federal government and reduce workforce size.
Leading this initiative is billionaire Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
Musk’s DOGE has adopted some aggressive cost-cutting measures in different federal agencies which has led to mass layoff of more than 10,000 federal workers, as reported by USA Today.
Trump had signed an executive order in which federal departments and agencies were instructed to make “large-scale reductions in force.”
“That Blonde Girl”, Who Once Appreciated WFH, Loses Job
Among those affected by the lay-offs, was a woman who goes by the name “That Blonde Girl” on social media platform X.
“I was terminated from my dream job with the Children’s Bureau yesterday due to federal restructuring orders/DOGE. I am unemployed for the first time since I was 15 years old,” said the woman in a post on February 15.
The woman shared the post after she was terminated from her job. In October 2024, the woman had bragged about not having any meetings all day and working from home.
“Didn’t have any meetings today so I’ve been wearing my jammies all day but now I have a meeting in 30 minutes sooo putting on a hoodie. Eventually that WFH life gonna getcha,” she wrote in her post.

Head of DOGE Elon Musk reacted to the viral post with an emoji which expressed his stance on the issue.
