Renting out your house to someone may seem like a profitable deal, but there is always a concern of whether the tenant will treat it as their own and keep it safe. This is something landlords must consider before renting out their property.
In a recent incident, an American man experienced a similar situation. He rented his house to a family on Airbnb, but when they left and he went to inspect the property, he was shocked by what he found.
According to Daily StarVince Villegas has a house located in Saugatuck, Michigan. He posted a video about his house on TikTok, sharing a shocking experience related to his tenant.
According to the video, Vince had rented the house through Airbnb, and when the tenants’ stay was over, he went to check in on the property. Vince had been managing the house on behalf of a friend. When he visited the home on a tenant’s last day and opened the door, he was taken aback by the state of the house.
The tenant had disappeared and left the house with strange red marks on walls, glass, and switchboards, which Vince suspected might be related to some religious ritual. The tenant had even placed the furniture outside the house. As a result, Vince’s expenses amounted to around Rs 2.5 lakh. However, what really upset him was the bill the tenant handed over when leaving.
Vince shared in the video that the tenant had been absent for about five hours after the checkout time, which prompted Vince to call the police. When the police arrived and contacted the tenant to leave the house, the tenant requested an additional two hours. Vince granted only half an hour. When the tenant left, he handed Vince a bill of Rs 85,000 for ‘services’, leaving him even more shocked.
When he enquired about the charges, the tenant explained that he was an interior designer and that the changes he had made to the house were meant to enhance its beauty. Therefore, he believed Vince should pay for his services.
