UGC NET exam to be held on January 15 postponed, new date to be announced soon


National Testing Agency (NTA) has postponed the UGC NET exam to be held on January 15, 2025. This decision has been taken due to many festivals. NTA has issued notice regarding postponement of examination on the official website ugcnet.nta.ac.in. However, the examination to be held on January 16, 2025 will be conducted as per its schedule.

New exam date will be announced later

The official notice issued by NTA states that in view of Pongal, Makar Sankranti and other festivals on January 15, 2025, the UGC NET December 2024 exam has been postponed. Information about the new date will be made available soon on the official website. Candidates are advised to keep an eye on the official website to be aware of any new information related to the examination. NTA has released the admit cards for all dates for the UGC NET examination of December session. Admit card is a mandatory document on the day of examination.

Major gateway to research and teaching for students

National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the University Grants Commission (UGC) is an important examination for Master’s degree/Post Graduate students. This examination provides eligibility for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), Assistant Professor job, and admission to PhD.

UGC NET exam is currently conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode. This examination is conducted in a total of 85 subjects, which gives students an opportunity to make a career in research and teaching in their respective fields. Through this examination, students are given financial assistance in research (Junior Research Fellowship), so that they can continue research work in higher education. Along with this, this examination also gives students a chance to become Assistant Professor in universities and colleges across the country.

How to check notice

  • Step 1: Visit the official website of UGC NET, ugcnet.nta.ac.in.
  • Step 2: Click on the relevant link on the homepage.
  • Step 3: Then a PDF file will appear in front of the candidate.
  • Step 4: Now candidates download this file.
  • Step 5: Finally, candidates should take a print out of it.
