
US President Donald Trump broke his tariff bomb on Mexico and the European Union on Saturday (July 12, 2025). Trump has issued a letter regarding new tariffs for Mexico and the European Union. He has announced that 30 percent tariffs will be implemented in the US on all the goods imported from Mexico and European Union from the beginning of next month.
The US President has shared tariff letters sent to Mexico and the European Union on his social media platform Truth social.
Donald Trump sent a letter to the President of Mexico
Donald Trump has written a letter to Mexico President Claudia Shinbam Pardo regarding the tariff to be implemented by the US. In the letter, Trump wrote, “It is a great respect for me that I am sending you this letter, which shows the strength and commitment of our business relations. Along with this, it also shows the fact that the United States has agreed to continue working with Mexico.”
The letter further wrote, “Despite the strong relations between the two countries, the US has imposed tariffs on Mexico so that the fantanel crisis spread in the country can be dealt with. This crisis has partly come out due to failure to stop the cartels of Mexico, which are made up of the most disgusting people that are filled in our country.”
Mexico helped me, but that is not enough- Trump
At the same time, Donald Trump also said in the letter, “Mexico has been helping me in border security, but what Mexico has done is not enough. Mexico has not been able to stop the cartells who are still trying to make the entire North America a narco-trophic field and of course, I cannot let this happen!”
He said, “From August 1, 2025, America will impose 30 percent tariff on all the items coming from Mexico, which will be different from all other sectoral tariffs.
Trump wrote a letter to the chairman of European Commission
US President Donald Trump has also sent a letter to the European Commission Chairman Ursula von Der Lane regarding American tariffs. Trump said at the beginning of the letter, “We will impose only 30% tariffs on the goods sent from the European Union to America from August 1, 2025, which will be different from all sectoral tariffs. Also, the goods which will be transmitted to survive at high rates will be applied as high tariffs.”
