H-1B visa fee hike controversy: US President Donald Trump’s decision on H-1B visa has been opposed in his own country. The US Chamber of Commerce has filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration regarding the increase in fees for H-1B visas.
The Chamber has filed a lawsuit, calling Trump’s move wrong and not legally correct. It has been informed in the report of Associated Press that the Chamber has filed a case in the Washington court on Thursday. In which the Chamber has demanded a stay on this order.
What does the chamber have to say?
The chamber, which represents more than 30 thousand businesses in America, has called this step of the Trump administration a violation of American immigration law. Visa fees in America are decided on the basis of visa processing. That is, the fee increase for H-1B visa directly violates it.
The Chamber also said that America has every right to allow foreign citizens to enter the country, but the government should take its decisions within the law. At the same time, it should also be kept in mind that the law passed by the US Congress is respected. According to the Chamber, this visa fee increase may lead to a shortage of skilled work professionals in America, especially in tech companies.
H-1B visa dispute
A few days ago, the Trump government had announced to increase the fee for H-1B visa to $100,000. Which is approximately Rs 83 lakh in Indian rupees. America had described this step as a step to increase employment in its country and against recruiting foreign talent at low prices. However, the Trump administration later informed that this fee will be imposed on new visa holders. Old visa holders were exempted from this fee increase.
This new controversy of H-1B visa has affected the whole world. Especially in countries like India where there is no dearth of skilled youth. The dreams of youth to go to America have been dashed. American tech companies often give opportunities to Indian talent to work. American companies benefit from this and get talented work professionals at lower prices.
What is H-1B visa program?
