
Amazon-Flipkart: Now the legal pressure will be tightened further on companies like Amazon and Flipkart, who are facing allegations of trying to establish monopoly through their e-commerce platforms. Both these companies are accused of trying to destroy the competitive market by promoting only the products of certain companies. The Competition Commission of India had investigated such complaints received from across the country. Right now the matter is pending before the court.
The Competition Commission had appealed to the Supreme Court that all these cases should be heard at one place, either in the Supreme Court or any High Court of the country. Accepting the request of the Commission, the Supreme Court has referred all such complaints against Amazon-Flipkart to the Karnataka High Court. It will be heard in the Dharwad bench of the Karnataka High Court. There the single bench has to give its verdict on this.
There are 24 complaints against unfair business practices
24 complaints were received from different places across the country against Amazon and Flipkart with allegations of promoting unfair business practices. The Supreme Court has sent all these petitions to the Karnataka High Court. The division bench of Justices Abhay Oka and Pankaj Mittal has given an order to this effect. Both the e-commerce companies facing allegations on this are also ready. Petitions making such allegations against Amazon-Flipkart were filed in Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Karnataka and Allahabad High Court.
Delhi trade union had also made allegations
Delhi Trade Association had also leveled allegations of conspiracy against both the companies to end business competition. Especially in the matter of selling mobile phones, he was accused of violation of the Competition Act 2002. The Competition Commission completed its investigation into the case in August and found both companies guilty of violating antitrust laws. It was found that both the e-commerce platforms launch only Samsung and Vivo smartphones on their websites. In this way both e-commerce platforms are challenging the regulation.
