A tragic incident in Bengaluru has claimed the life of a 29-year-old HR professional after a tree branch fell on his head. Akshay Shivaram was returning home after shopping for daily essentials when the accident occurred near the Brahma Chaitanya Temple in Hanumanthnagar around 1 PM.

Akshay, who was riding his scooter without a helmet, suffered severe head injuries when the heavy branch suddenly snapped and struck him. The impact caused multiple skull fractures. He lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a nearby parked car. CCTV footage captured the shocking moment, showing him collapsing immediately after the branch hit. Bystanders quickly rushed to his aid and took him to a nearby private hospital.

He remained in a coma for several days but sadly did not recover and passed away recently.

Heartbreakingly, Akshay had planned something special that day for his father’s birthday—he was going to cook his dad’s favourite chicken dish. The accident cut short those plans and left the family devastated.

Reacting to the post, a user wrote, “This is why head protection is necessary… Plz wear Helmets. Not for the sake but for safety.”

“I missed death once, just like this, a branch fell on me. I was wearing a helmet, it saved me, but it slipped through my helmet to my back. I had a big bruise, got saved by helmet,” a comment read.

One more added, “It seems that the sudden short pick up of a tempo towards the right side caused the pitiful rider to slow down his speed and catch himself under the exact fall point of a branch otherwise, with his ongoing speed, he could have escaped this deadly disaster with a minor margin.”

According to the Deccan Herald, Akshay Shivaram’s cousin, Teju held the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) responsible for what happened. He said, “The local temple management had made at least three complaints, requesting the BBMP to remove the dead tree branches. Had they acted in time, this tragedy could have been avoided. The branch outside this hospital was trimmed only after Akshay’s accident.”

Before Akshay’s death, BBMP officials visited his family and promised to take care of all medical expenses. While this gave some hope, the family was still anxious. They knew that BBMP often makes such promises but doesn’t always follow through.
