Many are drawn to the country, frequently visiting Indian states, creating social media content, interacting with locals, and immersing themselves in Indian culture and spirituality.
One such example is a foreign woman who gave up her job, home, and life in Denmark to settle in India. After spending 10 months in India, she reflected on whether she made the right choice.
Astrid Esmeralda, a solo traveller and surfer from Denmark and active Instagram user, used to live in Copenhagen. Ten months ago, she left everything behind to move to India, sharing her experiences through videos on Instagram. Her journey has taken her across places like Rishikesh, Mumbai, Goa, and Kerala.
Her Experience In India
Recently, she posted a video discussing her 10-month experience in India. “After 10 months in India, I can say this has been the best decision of my life. I needed a change as there was nothing left for me in Copenhagen. I loved my job, home, and friends, whom I miss, but I was bored of that city. Summers were enjoyable, but the rest of the year we just waited for summer. That place seemed as if everything was in a slumber. Now, I feel alive in India. Coming here has opened my eyes, and I have fallen in love with this country’s diversity and beauty, as well as its people, traditions, and nature,” she said.
Plans For The Future
In her long post, she also mentioned how much she has learned from India. However, she concluded by stating that she will stay in India for one more month before embarking on a summer trip to Europe.
She plans to return to India after the monsoon. Additionally, she encouraged other foreigners to visit India. Her video has gone viral, garnering over 300,000 views.
