We have all experienced moments when we want to burst out and express our true feelings to our managers at work, haven’t we? However, the majority of us usually stay quiet for fear of losing our jobs. But a brand-new service in the US allows employees to use an anonymous middleman to vent their grievances. This service has gone viral on the internet, enabling employees to have their managers “reprimanded” on their behalf.
The company, known as OCDA, was founded earlier this year by actor and stand-up comedian Calimar White, who has about 2,80,000 Instagram followers. It has resonated with employees afraid of reprisals for speaking out. According to White, whose concept is becoming popular, particularly on social media, the idea of the service is unambiguous: “To rectify complaints and create a better work environment,” as stated on the company’s website.
Being a non-profit, OCDA is dedicated to encouraging a respectful and accommodating work environment. The company employs “scolder” agents who, after receiving a complaint, go to a client’s place of employment and present a prepared list of complaints to the supervisor or coworker. Despite the boss’s discomfort or ire, the reprimand must be given precisely as written, guaranteeing the employee’s concerns are taken into consideration.
In the event that the agent is unable to come in person, the confrontation takes place over the phone. Either way, OCDA’s YouTube channel, which has more than 80,000 subscribers, receives the results.
In one recent video, an agent was seen addressing “Mr. LJ,” a supervisor who had been the target of grievances regarding his handling of the workplace. “I’ve been working for over 17 years, yet you don’t give me PTO (paid time off), and you’re paying the new hires more than the veterans,” the agent said as soon as he walked into Mr LJ’s office. The agent persisted in following the script despite numerous pleas to halt.
People on social media have expressed both amusement and support for the video, which was posted on the OCDA’s YouTube channel. The service has gained popularity on social media, especially after influencer “The Feedski” promoted it to his 800,000 TikTok followers on November 7. The video rapidly went viral, with more than 9.4 million views.
The service poses significant queries on workplace culture, employee rights, and how companies handle internal issues, notwithstanding the humour and fascination surrounding this idea.
