Smita Patil was born on 17 October 1955 in Pune, Maharashtra. Smita Patil started her career in 1974 with Mere Saath Chal.

But his first major film was Shyam Benegal’s Charandas Chor (1975), which he considered the beginning of his career.

Smita Patil acted in Hindi films as well as Marathi and Tamil films.

Smita Patil died on 13 December 1986, 15 days after giving birth to her son, Prateek Babbar, at the age of 31, due to a viral infection that followed after delivery.
