It is not very uncommon to find people speaking their own regional languages when in different states, often leaving locals struggling to understand. With the language row gaining momentum across the country, content creators Sandesh and Mohit, also known as Because Why Not, have made a light-hearted attempt at flaunting the Marathi language in Delhi, and the reactions are just overwhelming. In their latest video, content creator Mohit Kajarekar visited a few popular places in the national capital and approached the local people in Marathi.
From Mohit confusing the people with his hilarious and witty questions to some epic responses from the people, the wholesome video has left the internet amused.
The video opens with Mohit approaching a young man by calling “Dada,” only to ask him for a place to take a bath. Visibly clueless and confused, the stranger remained perplexed as he struggled to understand Mohit’s language. The content creator went on to confuse more people with his hilarious questions. Among them, he was seen talking with two men, asking them about “paati,” or slate in Marathi, leaving them confused between “party” and “parking.”
While a few others genuinely tried helping the creator or simply revealed not understanding his language, a street vendor had the best response as he started giving out wrong directions and went all gibberish, smartly matching Mohit’s witty prank.
The video went instantly viral, drawing a lot of attention as social media users enjoyed the entire act and the people’s candid reactions to the questions. A user wrote, “People are trying to understand and help you instead of being violent and imposing their language. That’s North India for you,” while another added, “Delhi knows how to treat diversity.”
“Don’t argue, just say ‘Iss block se aage’ and move on,” another comment read.
A larger section of internet users also took a dig at the ongoing language row in India, quipping about how the content creator was at least not beaten for speaking a different language in a different city. One wrote, “Glad Delhi don’t beat you for speaking another language.”
The content creators duo, Sandesh Agate and Mohit Kajarekar, founders of the Because, Why Not? YouTube channel, are known for their prank videos, tapping into people’s friendly side.
