In a heart-warming gesture, a man brought the picture of his deceased mother to the Maha Kumbh Mela, at Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. Hundreds of thousands of devotees have already camped on the banks of the Ganga. They will bathe in the river at dawn in what is referred to as “Mahasnaan” – the main ritual of the Maha Kumbh.

Photos and videos featuring glimpses of the grand event have flooded social media platforms. In one such post, an elderly man was captured with a framed photograph of his late mother.

Standing at the Sangam (the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati rivers), the person was perhaps waiting to take the holy dip in the Ganga. The picture was shared on X (formerly Twitter) with the caption, “This is what we call love, right?”

The post went viral in no time, with viewers shedding light on the unconditional love of the son for his mother. The comment section was also filled with teary eyes and red heart emojis. Reacting to the photo, a person commented, “Indeed, this is true love which is lacking in today’s world.”

“Those blurry eyes speak for the volume of love he had for her,” remarked another. “This post made my day,” admitted another person.

“It is a great fortune to have a son like him. May God give peace to the soul of his mother,” commented an individual.

A user shared that he also did something for his grandfather. “I had also promised my grandfather that I would take him to Baijnath Dham, but he passed away, then I also took his photo with me and fulfilled my promise,” he recalled. “I don’t have any word to define this love,” added another.

The Police have implemented a seven-ring security plan to ensure the safety of devotees attending Maha Kumbh. No vehicles are allowed on the entire premises. To control the massive crowd, the Mela authorities have set up a total of 2,751 CCTV cameras.

Key locations like the Sangam and near the tents have been kept under the surveillance of AI-enabled cameras. Over 40,000 security personnel, including police officers, paramilitary forces and volunteers, have been deployed in the area.
