Developer tooling startup Replit has launched an AI tool in the form of an application that can build and deploy other apps from scratch within minutes. Replit CEO Amjad Masad has announced the release of the Replit app, which is available on iOS and Android. Announcing the app, Amjad wrote, “Whatever you need, make an app for that. Now on your phone. For everyone. Free.”
He also shared a video of people using the app to create different apps, such as one to track workout routines and another to emulate drumbeats.
Reportedly, Replit launched the AI tool called Replit Agent back in September 2024. It is now available as a free app on iPhones and Android phones.
Replit’s description on iOS introduces it as the best way to code and ship real projects, apps, games, and more right from your phone. The app supports hundreds of programming languages and frameworks with zero setup, ensuring developers of all skill levels can use it to create their applications. In a blog post, the makers describe giving commands to the Replit agent as texting a friend, with no laptop required.
Leading entrepreneurs and techies around the world have posted rave reviews for Replit.
Peter Fabor, founder of Surf Office, posted a review of Replit in late January. He said, “I just want to say that Replit is awesome. I had an idea for a simple app, wrote it down, and after 45 minutes, the app was deployed.”
Y Combinator co-founder Paul Graham also voiced the potential of Replit on X. He noted how another CEO of a big tech company told him they had replaced Figma with Replit. The CEO stated that Replit is so good at generating apps that they just go straight to prototype now.
Not just entrepreneurs, software and game enthusiasts have also appreciated the user-friendly application. A person wrote, “I made a game with my younger brothers while we ordered food at a restaurant. We had it running before our food came.” Another wrote, “The age of personalised apps is here! Great job!
