
Mahakumbh 2025: Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) Chairman Manoj Kumar said that in Prayagraj from 14 January to 27 February 2025 Mahakumbh A national level exhibition was organized during which a historic sale of Khadi products worth Rs 12.02 crore was recorded.
98 stalls of Khadi products in exhibition
Manoj Kumar said that 98 stalls of Khadi products and 54 grams of industry stalls were set up in the exhibition. Among them, Khadi products were sold for Rs 9.76 crore, while rural industry products were sold at Rs 2.26 crore. In order to further strengthen the ‘New Khadi for New India’ campaign to promote Khadi, Manoj Kumar distributed 2,050 bee boxes, honey settlements and toolkits to 205 beekeys from six states through a video conference from KVIC’s Rajghat office in Delhi.

KVIC’s ‘Honey Mission’
During this, while addressing the program, Chairman Kumar told that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi According to the approach to spreading ‘sweet revolution’ in villages, ‘Honey Mission’ has been launched to distribute beekeepers to bee colonies and bee boxes. KVIC introduced ‘Honey Mission’ in 2017, under which more than 20,000 beneficiaries have received two lakh bee boxes and bee colonies so far.
He further said that while discussing the benefits of beekeeping in the 75th episode of ‘Mann Ki Baat’, the Prime Minister had emphasized that apart from honey, the wax of bee is also a big source of income. According to the release issued by the Ministry of MSME, there is a huge demand for bee wax in making drugs, food items, clothes and cosmetic products, so more and more farmers should also be involved in beekeeping work. This will also increase their income, sweetness will also come in life and the country will become self -sufficient in honey production.
The country’s Khadi sector is moving forward
In his address, the KVIC president, while talking about the achievements of the Khadi sector in the last 10 years, said that the sales of Khadi and Village Industries Products have increased five times, which has increased from Rs 31,000 crore to Rs 1,55,000 crore. The sales of Khadi textiles alone have increased by six times, which has increased from Rs 1,081 crore to Rs 6,496 crore, while 10.17 lakh new jobs were also created in the last financial year. He also informed that in the last decade, the income of Khadi artisans has increased by 213 percent, out of which more than 80 percent of employment has been created for women.
