Pakistan-Taliban Conflict : On December 24, 2024 (Monday), the Pakistani Air Force carried out a major air strike in Paktika province of Afghanistan. The target of this attack by Pakistan was a training center built for Taliban insurgents. According to Taliban, about 46 people were killed in this attack by Pakistan, mostly women and children.

After this attack, Taliban talked about taking revenge from Pakistan and just four days later carried out a retaliatory attack on the Pakistani border. The Taliban claimed that 19 Pakistani soldiers were killed in this attack, while 3 Afghan civilians also lost their lives.

How Taliban was formed and why there was enmity with Pakistan??

Taliban was formed in Kandahar, Afghanistan in 1994. Pakistan played an important role in organizing and strengthening it. Soon after the establishment of Taliban, it got important support from Pakistan. Apart from this, ISI played an important role in maintaining the Taliban by providing economic and military support for decades.

In 1996, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and the UAE recognized the Taliban’s Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan as a legitimate government. But today the same Taliban has become a big headache for Pakistan and now after taking power in Afghanistan, it is attacking the border areas of Pakistan.

Relations between Pakistan and Taliban broke after Lal Masjid operation

After the opposition from Taliban, Pakistan has repeatedly denied its role in the establishment of Taliban. It is noteworthy that the real beginning of the war between Pakistan and Taliban was the Lal Masjid operation in Pakistan in 2007. The Red Mosque of Islamabad was at the center of radical Islamic activities. It was from here that terrorist organizations got support.

In 2007, students of Lal Masjid attacked a massage center in Islamabad and kidnapped 9 people. After this, on July 3, 2007, Pakistan Army launched Operation Silence. More than 100 people were killed in this operation. After this, Tehreek-e-Pakistan (TTP) was born in Pakistan and a series of terrorist attacks took place in Pakistan.
