Hanuman birth anniversary is celebrated in the historic Jakhu temple of Shimla. From four o’clock in the morning, there are queues of devotees to see Hanuman ji in the temple. The Holy Day began with Havan and Yajna.

There is a belief about the temple that during the Ram-Ravana war in the Treta Yuga, when Lakshmana became unconscious with the arrow of Meghnath, he went to Drona mountain to take Hanuman’s Sanjeevani.

While going towards the Himalayas, Hanuman’s eyes fell on the sage Yaksha chanting Ram’s name. It is said that this mountain was very high in Hanuman Jakhu, but when Hanuman landed on this mountain, the mountain was buried by his weight. Hanuman ji stayed here and presented and rested with the sage Yaksha.

Hanuman returned and promised to meet the sage Yaksha, but Lord Hanuman was late while returning. Due to which Hanuman left the small route.

It is said that the sage Yaksha became distraught at the return of Lord Hanuman. Due to the distraught of the sage Yaksha, Lord Hanuman appeared as a self -styled idol at this place. Even today, the self -proclaimed idol of Lord Hanuman and his Charan Paduka are present in this temple. It is believed that after the appearance of the self -proclaimed idol of Lord Hanuman, Yaksha Rishi built the temple here. Jakhu from the sage Yaksha and Jakhu from Yaku.

Bajrangbali was decorated after opening the doors of the temple for the devotees at 4 am today. One and a half quintal of rot has been made for Bajrangbali.
