Pakistan-Taliban Conflict: Tension between Taliban and Pakistani army is continuously increasing. This conflict has taken a more dangerous turn in recent times. The Taliban has made it clear that they do not recognize the Durand Line, which is the border line between Afghanistan and Pakistan. This Durand Line was drawn by the British, but the Taliban does not consider it to have any importance. On the other hand, the Pakistani Army also expressed its displeasure and said that if the Taliban does not recognize the Durand Line, then they will not accept Afghanistan’s claim on the Wakhan Corridor. Wakhan Corridor is an important land of Afghanistan, which connects it to China and is very important from strategic point of view.
ISI activities and attempts to surround Taliban
Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI is trying to unite Tajikistan and anti-Taliban groups to bring Taliban under pressure. Pakistani Army wants to capture the Wakhan Corridor and gain access to Tajikistan. Heavy deployment of Pakistani Army has been done in this entire area.
Threat from Taliban and TTP
Both Taliban and TTP have now planned to jointly attack against Pakistan. The supreme leader of Taliban has also given permission to attack the Pakistani army in collaboration with TTP. This alliance of Taliban and TTP can cause serious problems for the Pakistani Army. Taliban’s Deputy Foreign Minister Sher Mohammad Abbas has threatened Pakistan and said that Afghan fighters are like ‘nuclear bombs’, which can cause serious damage to Pakistan.
China’s situation
China has not yet given any public statement in this entire matter, while this matter also affects the interests of China, especially in the context of Wakhan Corridor, which is the only direct route between Afghanistan and China. This growing tension is making Pak-Afghan relations more complex, and the conflict between the two countries could escalate into a major conflict, posing a serious threat to regional security.
