Israel has carried out major strikes on nuclear plants and military sites in Iran, with blasts being reported in Tehran. Multiple explosions were heard in the wee hours of Friday across the Iranian capital. At a time when the attack has plunged the Middle East into fresh uncertainty, further increasing the risk of a regional war, dramatic visuals have surfaced online from Tehran, with one of them showing a large building burning to the ground.
Captured by security cameras, the clip features the building’s top floor engulfed in flames, with plumes of smoke rising toward the skyline. Sharing the video on X (formerly known as Twitter), the user captioned it with, “Building goes up in flames in Tehran following Israeli airstrikes.”
While several videos captured a massive, bright explosion lighting up the city, Iran’s state media has also broadcast footage of fires raging in multiple buildings. Amid the chaos and confusion, crowds gathered on debris-strewn streets, trying to make sense of the unfolding crisis. In the aftermath, the city’s infrastructure appears to have taken the hardest hit, with visuals revealing a devastating trail of destruction.
Meanwhile, a major explosion was also reported at a key uranium enrichment facility in central Iran, shortly after Israel’s airstrikes began. According to The Times of Israel, state broadcasters confirmed, “A new explosion was heard at the Natanz uranium enrichment facility.”

Besides damages to buildings and state infrastructure, the missile strikes have claimed the lives of many, including children, in the residential areas. Chief of the Iranian Armed Forces, Mohammad Hossein Bagheri, was killed during the strikes, alongside the commander-in-chief of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Hossein Salami, as per CNBC.
In the meantime, Israel has declared a state of emergency, anticipating retaliatory missile and drone strikes. “We are at a decisive moment in Israel’s history. Moments ago, Israel launched Operation Rising Lion, a targeted military operation to roll back the Iranian threat to Israel’s very survival. This operation will continue for as many days as it takes to remove this threat,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a recorded video message. Israel has also closed down its airspace, suspending all incoming and outgoing flights.
Beyond Tehran, the Iranian news outlets have reported airstrikes on key sites like Natanz, Khandab, and Khoramabad.
