A Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) employee has died by suicide, allegedly due to harassment by his wife of one year. Manav Sharma was found hanging in his home in Agra on the morning of February 24. Following his tragic death, Sharma’s family attempted to file a complaint with Sadar Police, but officers allegedly turned them away, citing Maha Shivratri duties. The family then escalated the matter to the CM portal.
On Thursday night, Sadar police registered a case based on a complaint received via WhatsApp and have now launched an investigation.
Before taking this extreme step, Sharma recorded an emotional video lasting nearly seven minutes, which his family later discovered on his phone. In the video, he can be seen crying and pleading with people to “think and talk about men” as he blamed his wife for his extreme step. He also apologised to his parents for his decision.
TCS Manager’s emotional plea
With a piece of cloth wrapped around his neck and another tied to the fan, Sharma recorded his final video.
In the video, he addressed the authorities, saying, “So, this is for the authorities. Authorities as in police and law enforcement… The law needs to protect men, or otherwise there will come a time when there will be no men left. No man on whom you can shift blame….”
After taking a pause for a few seconds, he continued, “Let me share my situation. It’s the same as many others… I found out that my wife was sleeping with someone else. But never mind, let it be.”
“I have no issue with going home. I want to go home. Yet, even now, I am saying this: Please think about men. Someone, please talk about men,” he continued as tears rolled down his face.
“Someone please talk about men. They are very lonely,” he stressed.
“Dad sorry, Mummy sorry… But guys please understand, as soon as I go, everything will be fine. Everything will get better once I die. So, let me go…,” he said in the emotional video.
He then said, “I am trying to figure out how to die…. I am still requesting you to please think about the men in your life. Think about them.”
Sharma then admitted that he had previously attempted suicide. “I have always been a quitter. I have attempted suicide multiple times,” he said, showing his wrist marked with scars from past attempts.
“Don’t touch my parents,” he urged before adding, “Okay then, peace out.
‘It was a troubled marriage’: Manav Sharma’s father
Air Force retiree Narendra Kumar Sharma shared Manav was his only son, and was a recruitment manager at TCS in Mumbai. A day before his tragic death, he travelled from Mumbai to Agra with his wife and dropped her off at her parents’ house, according to a report by ETV Bharat.
His father claimed that Manav’s marriage was troubled, with frequent fights and repeated threats of false cases from his wife, which he believes drove his son to take this extreme step.
‘It was my past’: TCS employee’s wife
Manav Sharma’s wife, Nikita Sharma, has spoken out, sharing her side of the story. She claimed that her past was being unfairly held against her and that after learning about it, Manav turned to alcohol, often becoming violent and argumentative. She claimed that she informed her in-laws about his behavior but they dismissed her concerns, asking her to handle things on her own.
The outlet further reported that Nikita claimed to have saved Manav from suicide thrice. “I pulled him back from the edge and brought him here. But in the end, he was the one who left me at my parents’ house,” she said.
She further alleged that she tried to help Manav one last time, repeatedly calling her in-laws to check on him, but her calls went unanswered. After his final rites, she claimed, her in-laws threw her out, accusing her of being responsible for his death.
