A woman working at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) shared a stressful experience where she “denied” her resignation after being asked to step down by the company’s human resources (HR) team.
In a Reddit post titled “I denied my resignation in TCS,” she explained how she stood her ground and revealed the emotional and professional pressure faced by employees on the bench.
‘I Denied It’
The woman mentioned how difficult it was to face the demand to resign. She wrote, “It’s been 3 days since I was asked to resign in a meeting room. I denied it. I was crying and afraid, but TCS is my first company—I have nothing to lose.”
She claimed that the company had “threatened” with “a bad review after termination.”
“So, I said, ‘Okay, do as you like, but I’m not going to resign,’ and I came out of that meeting room. I was crying, I was scared, but I tried to be strong at that time,” she continued.
‘Targeting Benched Employees’
The Redditor highlighted that she is not a senior employee and her name was not on the list of targeted staff.
“These people are targeting benched employees first because they are easy targets. They are freezing our profiles so that no project can see us or call us for allocation. Even if we get a project through our contacts, RMG calls that project and asks them to cancel our allocation,” she claimed.
The woman admitted that she is unsure about her next steps but is “just going with the flow.” She also described the ongoing harassment faced by other employees at her branch.
“HR is calling them daily for meetings, asking them to resign, and threatening them with various things like freezing their salary, blacklisting them, giving them bad reviews, saying nobody will hire them, etc. But again and again, they are ignoring and fighting. It’s been more than 10 days, and those employees are still in TCS but struggling,” she added.
‘Mental Harassment’
The techie described the situation as “literally mental harassment, torture, and such a toxic thing they are doing to employees.” She also highlighted on her choice to join TCS, saying, “I joined TCS because of its work culture and job security, even with a very low salary. Now I regret it—I should have chosen another company. After Ratan Tata, this company is messed up.”

Advice From Redditors
The post gained significant attention online as Reddit users shared advice in the comment section
One user commented, “TBH ask them for 3 months of severance and leave, else fight legally!! Nothing more, nothing less.”
Another said, “Dude, what is the point of working for an organisation that doesn’t want you? I feel it’s better you negotiate severance and leave.”
“There is no point in staying at such a toxic place. Always remember your mental peace is always ahead of these things,” someone suggested.
A person offered a more practical perspective, saying, “First, don’t get too emotional, accept that this is one of the facets of the IT industry. Second, you have the right to fight back, but seriously, it’s not worth it. Spare a thought to upskill and find better opportunities. People in the bench are the ones to go first, whichever company you join.”
Another Employee’s Sudden Job Loss
Just a few days ago, a similar situation grabbed attention when a man from Delhi shared his troubling experience of losing a job shortly after joining a new company. He turned to Reddit for advice after being laid off just two days into his new role without any severance pay.
The man had previously worked as a Financial Analyst at a small company in Gurugram for two years. In August, he moved to a food-based direct-to-consumer start-up in Saket, where he was hired for a junior FP&A role. But he faced an abrupt termination soon after joining.
