Amidst debates over language imposition in the southern part of India, a heartening clip saw an IndiGo flight captain, who is from Tamil Nadu, attempting to speak to travellers in Hindi. In the viral video, one can see Captain Pradeep Krishnan talking via mic to all the travellers in Hindi before the flight takes off from Patna in Bihar.
Pradeep Krishnan’s amusing attempt caught the internet by surprise, as he tried to ease the communication hurdles for the travellers, many of whom would’ve been from the Hindi belt. The flight captain held the mic and talked without hesitation, even making a joke about his Hindi proficiency to lighten up the atmosphere and pass on the message about potential turbulence and the importance of wearing the seat belt.
Tamil Flight Captain’s Viral Hindi Attempt
“Sabka namaskar hai. Mera Hindi sundar hai, sab adjust kar lega. Hum aaj Patna se aage jaata hai. Uppar main, 3,000 feet pe.. turbulance thora, daga daga daga karega. Seat belt daalenge nahi toh adega. (Namaste, everyone. My Hindi is quite beautiful, I’m sure you all will adjust to it. Today, we will fly from Patna. Up above, at 3,000 feet, you may experience some turbulence. Do not panic. Use the seat belt),” the captain says in the clip he posted, bringing a smile on the faces of the travellers and even an air hostess standing next to him.
While not perfect, Captain Pradeep Krishnan’s honest attempt to communicate with travellers in Hindi pleased the internet a lot. Many users gave him full marks for trying to speak in a language so different from his mother tongue, Tamil. Others laughed at his description of the turbulence in flights.
What The Internet Said About Flight Captain’s Hindi Attempt
“That’s very cute. Full marks for trying to speak in a language which is not your mother tongue,” said one user.
Someone else wrote, “Captain – Aapki Hindi bohut sundar hai. Important is to get the message across to passengers, which you did with words and actions. I am sure everyone paid attention to yr message!”
“Pure comedy gold and absolutely hilarious,” wrote another user.
“Atleast he tried that too in front of hundreds of people his efforts are really appreciable,” summed up a comment.
