Graduation is a moment of pride for any parent, and families often go the extra mile to celebrate the achievement. They try all the possible ways to make the moment celebratory for their children. A couple in Taiwan took things to a whole new level and hired two pole dancers to toast their son’s graduation ceremony.
The surprise performance took place outside Taichung Municipal Wanhe Junior High School in mid-June, where two female dancers started dancing on the street and later climbed onto the roofs of the two parked SUVs where the poles were installed, according to the South China Morning Post (SCMP).
The boy was then asked to stand between the two dancers, who quietly looked embarrassed. Later, it was revealed that he was the graduating student and the entire event had been arranged by his own parents as a surprise.
The boy’s mother told the outlet that the pole dance was organised by a friend and she planned the dance. She said she just wanted to celebrate his son’s graduation day in a special manner to make it stand out from other graduation events. “Other parents organised various programs for the graduation ceremony, so I wanted ours to be more creative than theirs. I hope this will be an unforgettable graduation gift for my son,” the mother said.
The performance quickly attracted a crowd in large numbers, who stopped by to watch and record the performance. Soon after, the local police showed up at the location and dispersed the crowd, citing disturbances to public order.
A school official told the outlet that they do not promote such types of celebration, stating, “We (the school) will strengthen our educational efforts and encourage parents to celebrate graduations in a more rational manner, avoiding unnecessary expenses.”
The boy told reporters that when he found out the pole dance was organised by his parents, he was stunned and left speechless. “However, considering my parents’ intentions, I chose not to object,” he added.
