‘T stands for Terrorism’, India shows mirror on Pakistan’s ‘Two to tango’ statement


MEA On Pakistan: India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Friday took a dig at Pakistan Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar’s remarks on normalizing bilateral relations with India. In fact, Dar said that better relationships require mutual will and it “takes two people”. For this he used the English proverb ‘It takes two to tango’. Responding to this, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, “The relevant ‘t’ word here is ‘terrorism’, not ‘tango’.” He stressed that it is essential to resolve the issue of terrorism to improve bilateral relations.

Comment by Pakistan Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar
On Thursday, Pakistan Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar had said that bilateral relations require efforts from both sides. Dar also commented on Pakistan’s foreign policy under the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government. Referring to his plans to visit Bangladesh next month, he said that Bangladesh is like a “lost brother” to him and the aim is to strengthen economic and trade cooperation.

Diplomacy with Afghanistan
Speaking on relations with Afghanistan, Dar said that Pakistan wants to strengthen its relations with Kabul, but terrorism remains a major challenge. He criticized former intelligence chief General Faiz Hameed for holding talks with Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and pointed out that trips to Kabul had been postponed due to terrorist attacks.

Pakistan’s nuclear projects
Announcing the progress in Pakistan’s nuclear energy, Dar said that the Chashma 5 (C-5) nuclear power project, which will be finalized with China in 2023, will be among the major energy projects of Pakistan. This project is being done after the completion of K2 and K3 projects.

Rumors refuted on Gwadar port
Outgoing Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch dismissed rumors related to military use of Gwadar port. He described it as a major development project supported by China and said that this project is for the development of Pakistan and not for any military use.
