
Food Ant Grocery delivery platform Swiggy has received an assessment order notice of more than 158 crore tax from the Income Tax Department. The company said that it has been given this tax notice during the period from April 2021 to 2022 from the Deputy Commissioner, Central Circle, Bangalore, the Deputy Commissioner of the Iq Department.
Swiggy said in one of its exchange filing that the company received this assessment order during the March 2022 to 2022 March period. Additional income of 1,58,25,80,987 was added to it.
Significantly, these cases are related to alleged violations, in which the cancellation charge given to merchants to be rejected under Section 37 of the Income Tax Act, 1961. In addition, the interest received on income tax refunds involves not involving taxable income.
Swiggi believes that she has a strong case against the order and is taking necessary steps to protect her interests through review/appeal. The company said that this order would not adversely affect its financial and operations.
