Study and work permits can now be canceled in Canada, know how

Canada Immigration System : The difficulties of people planning to study and work in Canada have now increased more. Actually, Canada has made its immigration rules more strict than before. Under the new rules, the border and immigration officers will now be able to cancel temporary residence visas like study and work permits directly. Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship has implemented these changes by Canada (IRCC). This rule has come into force from 31 January 2025 and has also been published in Canada Gazette II.

IRCC Regarding the case

IRCC has issued a statement in this case. In its statement, IRCC said, “We will continue to improve the processes to protect the border and protect the immigration system.” Under the new rules, officers can cancel electronic travel authorization (ETA) and permanent residence visa (TRV). However, this can happen when a person is not eligible or gives false information or his own record or somehow his circumstances change.

Under what circumstances can study and work permits can be canceled?

Apart from this, study and work permits can now be canceled even under certain circumstances. For example, if the permanent holder becomes a permanent resident of Canada, he dies or if there is an administrative mistake in his documents, then the permit can be canceled in such a situation. Changes are being made in the rules regarding immigration in Canada and most of its effects are going to be seen on Indians.

Why changes in immigration rules made?

In fact, the Canadian government has made changes in these rules so that the reliability of Canada’s immigration system remains better. It also ensures that temporary residents follow their visa conditions thoroughly.

It is noteworthy that earlier the authorities had the right to reject visas and permit applications, but the permits that were issued could cancel them with limited rights. However, after the implementation of the new rules, the full power to cancel those permits has been found.
