The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has taken up a unique initiative to help flyers overcome potential health issues during long journeys. Passengers are being encouraged to stretch to relieve their muscles before boarding the flight at several airports. The CISF personnel are overseeing the brief exercise session. Airline operators have also been recommended to adopt the first-of-its-kind programme to promote a healthy travel experience.
The CISF appears to have already started offering the service at the Jodhpur airport. In a video making rounds on social media, passengers were captured undergoing a morning exercise session before boarding their flights. An IIT graduate who was part of the group shared his experience via an X post.
“One of the most interesting airport experiences happened today! The CISF airport security staff led the waiting passengers into a few stretching exercises before their boarding! I was sceptical but liked that it was pure stretching with no unnecessary bakwaas (nonsense),” the user wrote.

His post featured a picture where several passengers were seen flexing their muscles under the guidance of the CISF officers. The “crazy” initiative impressed many users who dropped their reactions in the comment box. “Sounds actually nice,” admitted a person.
The two- to three-minute session reportedly includes six simple stretching exercises which will aid in improving blood circulation during the winter months. A fitness enthusiast suggested that “sit-ups should be included” in the routine as well.
The CISF also responded to the post and commented, “Your valuable feedback is a source of inspiration for CISF personnel. Thank you very much.”
“We have received an overwhelming response from passengers at airports where this routine has been introduced. During this foggy season, with frequent delays and extended sitting periods, these exercises are proving to be especially useful in improving blood circulation,” a CISF officer told the Indian Express.
Besides Jodhpur, this service is available in Srinagar, Dehradun, Udaipur, Gwalior, and Bhuntar airports. As per the CISF, the stretching exercises are only recommended to passengers without any serious medical conditions.
