Air traffic control at Los Angeles International Airport acted swiftly to prevent a potential crash on the runway. A private jet carrying a college basketball team narrowly avoided colliding with a departing flight at one of the world’s busiest airports. Key Lime Air Flight 563 was instructed to “hold short” before crossing a runway where another plane was taking off.
The incident happened on December 27 evening and a live stream of the tense moment has gone viral on social media, showing the controller urgently calling out, “Stop, stop, stop,” to avert a tragedy.
“Stop, stop, stop! LAX ATC urgently called out to a Key Lime Air jet as a Delta jet took off from runway 24L. Was this a runway incursion? All of it was captured live during Friday’s Airline Videos Live broadcast,” reads the caption to the viral video shared on X (formerly known as Twitter).
The video captures the Delta jet speeding down the runway and taking off, narrowly avoiding a collision with a Key Lime Air jet. It also shows the Key Lime Air jet coming to a halt after being instructed by air traffic control. Moments later, the plane continues its movement on the runway.

“Wow! In the years I’ve been doing this, I’ve never heard an ATC controller tell a plane to ‘Stop, stop, stop’,” The Independent quoted Plane spotter Kevin Ray as saying.
After the incident, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued a statement and said that they had launched an investigation into the matter.
“Air traffic controllers directed Key Lime Air Flight 563 to hold short of crossing a runway at Los Angeles International Airport because a second aircraft was taking off from the runway at the time,” the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said in a statement.
It added, “When the Embraer E135 jet proceeded to cross the hold bars, air traffic controllers told the pilots to stop. The jet never crossed the runway edge line… The FAA will investigate.”
