Deepak Shenoy, the founder and CEO of Capitalmind, chose to take a bus to his Bengaluru office, and he was shocked to see that the cost was just Rs 6. Often sharing his opinions on AI, food delivery apps, and tourism, Shenoy revealed that he usually walked to work.
Due to a knee problem, Shenoy, who often walks 30 minutes to work, chose public transportation. However, he was pleasantly shocked by how little the cost was.
“I took a bus for Rs. 6(!!) today and walked 30 min to the office. I’m still stunned that there’s something that costs Rs. 6,” in a social media post on X (formerly Twitter), Shenoy shared his astonishment, saying.

Shenoy further emphasised how simple it was to pay because there was a UPI QR reader on the bus, which removed the need for cash.
“I take public transport all the time – A/C bus fares are usually higher, and so are metro fares. And I usually just walk short distances – this was a 1km hop because of a rough knee, but I was still surprised it was so cheap,” Shenoy shared in his follow-up tweet.

Shared on April 2, Shenoy’s first post on the bus ride racked up over 2 lakh views. His post received a lot of attention online for his experience with the inexpensive ticket and electronic payment method.
Many on social media commended Shenoy for advocating for public transport and underlined how crucial it was for urban mobility.
A user said, “Public Transport, if promoted well, can transform the way Indians commute. Safety, reliability, and affordability are 3 key aspects of any successful public transport system.”
For economic mobility, particularly for lower-income people, accessible public transport is crucial, as another user noted. “The only way the public can improve their lives is through a cheap public transportation system, which can be a game changer for the poor and middle class. Public transport is the lifeline of any city for the local and for the migrants,” the user on X commented.
Some users pointed out that while many basic food items are still reasonably priced, Rs 6 is not an especially small sum.
