The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) fans are really excited after the team qualified for the finals of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Adding to the excitement a RCB supporter has requested Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to declare a state holiday if the team wins the final match.
In his letter, the fan, identified as Shivananda Mallannavar of Belagavi district’s Gokak, said that a state holiday should be declared if the “long-held dream” of the RCB fans comes true.
“If the RCB team wins the IPL 2025 cup, the government should officially declare that day as the ‘Karnataka State RCB Fans Festival’ and give it a holiday every year. Because the long-held dream of RCB fans is about to come true, we request the Karnataka government to facilitate the celebration of the RCB Fans Festival in the same way as we celebrate Karnataka Rajyotsava in every district. We, on behalf of all RCB fans, request the Karnataka government to take this seriously and grant permission for the holiday and RCB Fans Festival,” read his letter.
Notably, RCB reached the finals after a nine-year gap, their last appearance being in 2016. This marks the fourth time the team has made it to the IPL finals, having previously done so in 2009, 2011, and 2016.
On Thursday, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru defeated Punjab Kings to punch their tickets to Ahmedabad for the final of the 18th season of the IPL.
Meanwhile, a picture of the handwritten letter written to CM Siddaramaiah is also going viral on social media platforms.
In another fan moment, the picture of a woman wearing a red saree was widely shared on social media. The woman, also an RCB fan, was seen holding a placard that read, “RCB agar final nahi jeeti toh main apne pati ko talaaq dungi,” (If RCB doesn’t win the final, I will divorce my husband).”
She also mentioned the name of her social media handle as @chiraiya_ho and used the hashtag ‘KingKohli’.
