Andy Bryon became the subject of widespread online chatter after a video went viral showing him hugging the company’s HR chief, Kristin Cabot, at a recent Coldplay concert.

Andy Bryon, the CEO of tech company Astronomer, has resigned from the company after a viral video showing him canoodling with the firm’s HR chief, Kristin Cabot, at a Coldplay concert sparked a wave of memes and outrage on social media channels.
In a statement, Astronomer said its leaders must uphold exemplary conduct and accountability, a standard that was recently compromised. “As stated previously, Astronomer is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding,” the company said.
“Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability, and recently, that standard was not met. Andy Byron has tendered his resignation, and the Board of Directors has accepted,” Astronomer added.
With Byron’s resignation now confirmed, co-founder and Chief Product Officer Pete DeJoy will act as interim CEO while the board searches for a permanent replacement. The company also assured that while their awareness may have changed overnight, their product and work for customers have not. “We’re continuing to do what we do best: helping our customers with their toughest data and AI problems,” it said.
What Happened?
Byron and Kristin Cabot, Astronomer’s Chief People Officer, were seen sharing an intimate moment during a “kiss cam” segment of a Coldplay concert in Boston on July 16. Upon realising they were being broadcast to thousands, both Byron and Cabot quickly attempted to hide from the camera.
Coldplay’s lead singer Chris Martin even jested about their reaction, saying, “Oh, what? Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy.” By Thursday morning, the short clip had gone viral on social media.
Bryon and Cabot became the subject of widespread criticism, memes and allegations of cheating, as both are reportedly married. While Bryon was married to respected educator Megan Kerrigan, Cabot is reportedly married to Privateer Rum CEO Andrew Cabot. The two were put on administrative leave.
Following the public backlash, Byron’s wife, Megan – who is an Associate Director of Lower School and Hope Graham Program Admissions at the Bancroft School – removed her last name from her Facebook profile before deactivating it.
