
PM Modi Sri Lanka Visit : Prime Minister Narendra Modi had gone on a three -day visit to the neighboring country Sri Lanka from Friday (April 4). Prime Minister Modi’s visit is the first after President Anura Kumara Disanayake was elected in the month of September last year. During this time, leaders of India and Sri Lanka signed seven important agreements.
Sri Lankan President Anuraa Kumara Disanayake signed 7 important agreements including defense, energy, digital infrastructure, health and trade with India in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday (April 5).
President assured confidence in India’s security interests
Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Disanayake has assured India’s security amid concerns about China’s growing influence in the region of the Indian Ocean. In his address during the joint press conference, President Disanayake said, “I confirm Sri Lanka’s attitude that Sri Lanka will not allow its land to be used in any way against India’s security interests and regional stability.”
After the President Disaniyak assured, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, ‘I am grateful to President Disanayake for sensitivity to India’s interests. We welcome important agreements between the two countries.
Discussion about India-Sri Lanka relations in the meeting
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who arrived on a visit to Sri Lanka for the first time after taking over the post of President Disanayake, held a detailed discussion towards further integrity of the two countries. During this time, he reiterated his commitment to work closely with a joint perspective to ‘promote his partnership for the common future’.
At the same time, according to the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, Prime Minister Narendra Modi Has also confirmed India’s commitment to stand with Sri Lanka to stand with him in development.
