
Sri Lankan President on India Visit : Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake is on a three-day visit to India from Sunday (December 15) to Tuesday (December 17). This is his first foreign tour after assuming the post of President of Sri Lanka.

The three-day visit of Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake to India is being considered important to further strengthen the bilateral relations between the two countries. India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on Friday (December 13) that issues like maritime security cooperation may come up for discussion during the visit of the Sri Lankan President.
According to the statement issued from the Ministry of External Affairs, during this visit to be held from 15 to 17 December, Dissanayake will meet with the political leadership of India. Apart from this, he will also participate in a business program to promote investment and trade relations between India and Sri Lanka in the country’s capital Delhi. At the same time, he will also visit Bodhgaya temple located in Gaya, Bihar.
S. Jaishankar had invited the President to come to Delhi
India’s foreign S. Jaishankar was the first Foreign Minister to visit Colombo after Anura Kumara Dissanayake became the President of Sri Lanka. During his visit to Sri Lanka, Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar had invited Dissanayake to come to Delhi. S. Jaishankar was the first foreign dignitary to visit Sri Lanka after the National People’s Party (NPP) government came to power.
The buzz of travel started after the elections
The visit of Sri Lankan President Dissanayake started after the parliamentary elections in November. His NPP achieved a historic victory in the Sri Lankan parliamentary elections and gained complete control over the 225-member Parliament.
