Soham Parekh, the man at the centre of a viral tech controversy, has finally broken his silence after being accused of moonlighting at multiple startups. The Georgia Tech graduate, who allegedly juggled three to four remote roles at once, is now under fire for misleading several companies, including Y Combinator-backed firms.

The saga picked up steam when Playground AI founder Suhail Doshi publicly called out Parekh on X. Doshi claimed that Parekh was caught lying and fired within a week of joining his company. “I fired this guy in his first week and told him to stop lying/scamming people. He hasn’t stopped a year later,” Doshi wrote, adding that 90 per cent of the links on Parekh’s resume were “fake.”

Now, in what seems like a desperate attempt at damage control, Parekh reached out to Doshi, asking if he had “completely sabotaged” his career and how he could “come clean.” Doshi shared the message with his followers, ending his post with “Vox populi, Vox Dei,” meaning the voice of the people is the voice of God.

Shortly after, an account claiming to be the “Real Soham Parekh” popped up, stating he’s “pissed” and has “something to prove.” He insisted that much of the criticism lacked context, while asserting, “If there’s one thing to know about me, it’s that I love to build.” In what appeared to be his version of a redemption arc, Parekh also claimed to have joined a new startup as a founding engineer.

Despite the apology, the internet isn’t convinced. Several startup founders have now come forward with similar stories: false claims about visa status, skipping in-person meetings, juggling jobs without disclosure, and spinning excuses like “time zone issues” or “starting his own ERP company” to cover up inconsistencies.

His two-page resume, now circulating widely, boasts of remote stints at big names like GitHub, Synthesia, Union.ai, and DynamoAI—all managed simultaneously, and all remotely. One founder even shared that they shipped a laptop to what they believed was his US address, only to have it returned from a different name—allegedly his “sister.”

The case raises a larger question about moonlighting and whether holding multiple jobs is legal. In both India and the U.S., the legality largely depends on what’s written in your contract. Still, ethics and transparency remain non-negotiable in most work cultures.

One thing founders agreed on—Parekh excelled at interviews. His emails, often starting with “TL;DR: I love everything about…” and ending with “Best, Soham,” grabbed attention instantly. Whether genuine or manipulative, it clearly worked—until it didn’t.

For now, “Soham-gate” is a cautionary tale for employers and candidates alike: talent may open doors, but integrity decides if you get to stay.
