Mention of Sharad Purnima in Shastra and Purana

It is mentioned in the Bhagavata Mahapuran (Dasam Skandha) that Lord Krishna had Maharas with the gopis on the night of Ashwin Purnima. Therefore it is also called Ras Purnima.

According to Skanda Purana, there is a rain of nectar from the moon on Sharad Purnima. Therefore, medicinal properties are found in the food kept in the moon’s cry.

According to the Padma Purana, on the night of Sharad Purnima, Maa Lakshmi travels on earth. Therefore, who worships and awaken this night gets the blessings of Lakshmi ji.
