The situation in the Middle East is very tense at the moment, with Israel and Iran continuously exchanging missiles since June 12. It all began when Israel launched the mission “Operation Rising Lion”, targeting military sites in Iran. In response, the latter fired back. Amid the escalating tensions between the two countries, what has caught the internet’s attention are the videos from the neighbouring countries of Lebanon and Jordan.
In a viral clip shared on Instagram, people at a cafe in Lebanon were seen leaving behind their meals only to capture the missile exchange between Israel and Iran in the night sky. Despite the gravity of the situation, people were seen enjoying the rare “view.”
Taking the absurdity to a notch higher, a cafe in Jordan is said to be offering reservations to their customers to watch the missile exchange in the sky between the two countries while having their meals. A clip, posted by Middle East news outlet Albawaba, revealed that a Jordanian cafe in Salt City has allowed guests to book seats to watch the exchange. As seen in the video, people were seen watching the missile exchange from the rooftop of the restaurant while sipping coffee and eating dinner. Some were even seen filming the exchange by abandoning their food.
The video has gone viral, with people criticising the cafe’s move during such a tense time. Taking to the comment section, one user wrote, “What stage of Capitalism is this?” Another added, “This is nuts. People enjoy watching lives being lost. May God forgive us.” A different user said, “Shame on humanity. Now people are enjoying each other’s death.” “Humanity is hitting a new low every day,” penned a user.
In the latest development regarding the 12-day-long Israel-Iran war, US President Donald Trump, on Tuesday, June 24, claimed that both countries reached a “complete and total ceasefire” agreement.” Following this, Iran quickly denied that any such agreement had been reached. Taking to X, Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Aragchi stated, “As of now, there is NO ‘agreement’ on any ceasefire or cessation of military operations. However, provided that the Israeli regime stops its illegal aggression against the Iranian people no later than 4 am Tehran time, we have no intention to continue our response afterwards. The final decision on the cessation of our military operations will be made later.”
