A video highlighting the stark difference between Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh has captured the Internet’s attention. The neighbouring states in central-northern India share a common border but different lifestyle patterns. Among the areas spanning both states lies the region Bundelkhand where people share similar language dialects, customs and festivals. There is also a prominent spiritual site, located on the border of the two states – Chitrakoot.

Recently, a content creator shared a video on Instagram, showcasing the contrasting appearance of Chitrakoot Ghat from both sides. While the Uttar Pradesh side appeared all decked up with bright lights, making for a vibrant atmosphere, the Madhya Pradesh side looked calm with a lesser crowd. The note attached to the clip read, “A man highlighted the striking contrast in the beauty of Chitrakoot Ghat between the UP and MP sides — same river, two different realities.”

Upon being shared, the video sparked a debate among Internet users. While some appreciated the peace of Madhya Pradesh, others appeared impressed with the unique charm and development of Uttar Pradesh. One of the comments read, “Madhya Pradesh is ruling the comments section, bro; people prefer peace over chaos.” Another wrote, “Up is way better than MP.”

In between the debate, a person jumped in to highlight how a video sparked comparisons, criticising one another. He opined, “Funny how one video was enough to trigger a debate about which is better, MP or UP. Even if one of them is better, why can’t we accept it, learn from it and apply the betterment in our own state?” Someone mentioned, “Think of the fact: how often do we forget that we share the same sky and same land of the same nation, still criticising one part and cherishing another?”

An individual disapproved of the video saying that both the states are beautiful in their own ways. He expressed, “Our nation is not progressing because people like you exist.. Why are you comparing both states.? It’s not India or pakistan. It’s two states that are beautiful in their own ways.”

Chitrakoot holds a religious significance for Hindus as it is believed to be the place where Lord Ram, Sita and Lakshman spent part of their 14-year exile, as per the Ramayana. The town boasts temples, ghats and caves, attracting pilgrims from across India.
