With a poster of Samay Raina’s now-deleted YouTube show India’s Got Latent in the backdrop, The Habitat, where the show was recorded, has come forward in defense of unfiltered comedy. Paramjit Singh Ghai, father of Balraj Singh Ghai – who was a frequent panellist on the show and owns The Habitat – addressed the importance of freedom of expression. He questioned whether the country would continue placing obstacles in the way of humour and laughter.
Declaring that comedy is back at The Habitat, he extended an open invitation to young creatives. He also revisited his famous dialogue from his brief appearance on one of the show’s episodes.
“Comedy is back at the Habitat,” reads the caption to the video shared on Instagram. It has a mending heart emoji.

“Hello, friends. You know me by the name Papa Ghai. A true gentleman gave you the Habitat, gave you laughter, brought humour into life. And these youngsters – what are they doing? They are giving you real, unfiltered laughter. Are we really going to put so many obstacles in the way of humour and laughter?” he said in the video.
He continued, “Friends, this is where it all begins – laughter and humour. Whether it’s a poem, shayari, mushaira, white wall screening – anything – all you creative young ones are welcome. Rest assured, good things can never be suppressed.”
“My famous dialogue is still on: Aye ***,” he ended his video.
Balraj Singh Ghai, the owner of The Habitat, dropped a comment on the video. He wrote, “Thanks Papa! The positivity and laughter in my life have always come from you and Mumma. Thank you for supporting Habitat endlessly with your love and generosity.”
“Big Pookie in the house yoo,” commented rapper Raftaar on the video.
Yashraj, who appeared as a panellist on one of the episodes, reacted with a heart emoticon.
India’s Got Latent Row
The “pointless reality show” came under fire after YouTuber-podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia asked an insensitive question to a contestant, and Samay Raina decided to air it as is. The question was: “Watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life. Or would you join in once and stop it forever?”
He even asked the contestant the “size of his p****” and went on to offer Rs 2 crore to “suck his d***”.
In connection with the case, the Maharashtra cyber police have reportedly summoned more than 30 people for questioning after registering an FIR against them. Raina, who is the host of the show, has yet to record his statement.
Allahbadia, popularly known as BeerBiceps, has admitted his mistake in a statement to the cops over his crude comments on parents and sex.
