Two thrill-seekers from Bengaluru found themselves in hot water after attempting a daring wheelie on a busy street, a stunt that quickly caught the attention of the authorities. The Madiwala Traffic Police wasted no time taking action when a viral video of the reckless act surfaced online. The clip, shared on social media by the official handle of Bengaluru Traffic Police, showed the duo pulling off the risky manoeuvre on a scooter. With swift efficiency, officers identified and apprehended the culprits.
“Bengaluru roads are for safe rides, not stunt shows! Try wheeling and you’ll be starring in a cautionary tale,” read the stern yet witty caption accompanying the police’s post.
The footage begins with two men on a scooter – the rider boldly lifting the front wheel in a dramatic display of bravado while the pillion rider, appearing intoxicated, leans back as if in a slow-motion stunt scene. What might have felt like a thrilling moment for them quickly turned into a lesson in law enforcement.

Performing such stunts on public roads isn’t just dangerous – it’s illegal. Under Section 279 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), which pertains to “rash driving or riding in a public way,” acts like these are punishable offences. Essentially, any reckless stunt that endangers public safety falls under this category, informs HT.
The viral clip sparked an outpouring of reactions from concerned citizens.
One user voiced their frustration, commenting, “These stunts are dangerous. Why do they risk their lives doing them?”
Another, clearly angered by such acts, wrote, “Sorry if this sounds inhumane, but these goons need something like ‘Shoot at sight.’ Anti-social elements must be dealt with with absolute aggression. Nobody cares for law and order, and our system isn’t able to bring a permanent solution to this menace.”
Amid the outrage, a third person took a nostalgic yet reflective approach, sharing, “During my adrenaline-filled youth, I used to do the same 25 years ago with an RX100 on the streets of Chennai, Hyd and Bang. Never got caught as there were no CCTVs or phones. Had a few minor accidents and close death calls. Now, as a family man, I don’t have the guts to do it.”
